The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative announces the call for submissions for the second AFCOOP Filmmaker In Residence Program.
The aim of the AFCOOP Filmmaker In Residence Program is to provide a Maritime-based filmmaker with the resources and guidance to create a completed work with the support and participation of the community and to involve the community in their filmmaking process.
OBJECTIVES
-To expand production and development opportunities for experienced filmmakers.
-To promote excellence in filmmaking.
-To increase the use of AFCOOP resources by experienced filmmakers.
-To expose AFCOOP and Maritime filmmakers to the filmmaking process, skills and aesthetics of a resident filmmaker.
-To foster the relationship between a resident filmmakers and the Nova Scotian filmmaking community.
AFCOOP WILL PROVIDE
A total of $15,000 in services and expenses for the proposed project, including:
- Up to $4,000 in direct ‘cash’ costs of the project. This may include film stock, lab fees, rentals, per diems and labour, etc.
- Up to $11,000 in AFCOOP equipment and facility rentals
- Staff and organizational support and a supportive community in which to work
“The first year of the Filmmaker in Residence program was remarkably successful. Building on this, we have opened up the call to filmmakers in Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick”, says Greg Morris-Poultney, Executive Director of AFCOOP. “AFCOOP has many programs to get people started in film but this is a fantastic next step for experienced artists in the region.”

Applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, August 2nd, 2010 DEADLINE EXTENDED TO AUGUST 16th, 2010!
Late applications and applications submitted by email or fax will not be accepted
The recipient of the AFCOOP Filmmaker-in-Residence will be announced September 1, 2010
