FEEDBACK LOOP

Ryan Kressall | The Night Run

The Night Run is a cover for Sydney’s underground business selling pills to middle aged men in the suburbs. On this particular night, it’s business as usual until she runs into the competition.

FIRST THING GRANTS

Katarina Rutenberg | Over Easy

On a morning like every other morning, a man remembers the people he’s loved through the ritual of making breakfast. Part reminiscence, mostly hallucination, it’s a story about routine as a thing apart from the absurdity of everyday life.

Akshay Shirke | Entrée

A short that follows Anjali, a young Indo-Canadian, who is about to host a Thanksgiving dinner for her co-workers — one of whom includes Sunitha, a newly arrived immigrant from India, eager to settle in. Things go sideways when a burnt turkey forces Anjali to reckon with her culinary abilities and her perception of her own identity.

INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS GRANT

Spencer MacKay | Lockdown Procedure Engaged

Two young people with disabilities (one that is in a motorized wheelchair, and one that is visually impaired) are forced to rely on each other for support and safety during an emergency lockdown.

SUPER 8 BURSARY

Anna Sparrow | GallowGate

GallowGate is a short about inheriting memories from people and places you’re distant from.

The deadline for our next round of grants is December 10, 2021. Find all the details HERE.
