Looking to make your own one-minute film through this year’s FILM 1 program? Don’t forget: participants must take part in one of our Filmmaking Intensive Workshops. Registration is FREE and OPEN NOW!
Each workshop is from approximately 10am-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and for each there will be an online orientation session the preceding Wednesday evening (October 13 or November 3 respectively).
After attending the filmmaking intensive workshop participants will be invited to apply to make their film.
Registration will operate on a first come first serve basis although there will be a waitlist if needed. All are welcome to register and we encourage registration from people who self-identify as belonging to an underserved community. A minimum of half the spaces will be reserved for people who do.
ABOUT FILM 1
FILM 1 is an education, production and mentorship program for beginner filmmakers ages 16 years and up. Participants will be given the training and resources to create a one-minute film.
The program runs fall/winter 2021/22 and is completely free of charge. For this year’s offering of FILM 1 we have eliminated the competition element — everyone who registers will be able to participate. (Please note: registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will be structured to ensure a minimum of 50% participation of people from underserved communities.)
Participants will attend intensive workshops, receive mentorship from professional filmmakers and will be provided with equipment and support to produce their own one-minute-long film. To be eligible to make their film, applicants must be residents of Nova Scotia, demonstrate a commitment to taking part in the program through attendance at workshops and have a feasible idea for a one-minute film.
