The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP) is a non-profit centre for the production and presentation of films in a collaborative learning environment. AFCOOP acts as a resource center where filmmakers come to receive training, equipment, and presentation opportunities.

We’re seeking to hire an Office and AMP Lab Assistant.

DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will work along with the Technical Coordinator and the AMP Lab Manager to assist with AFCOOP’s newly established Atlantic Media Preservation Lab (intake and logging of archival film stock, etc.), assisting with gear rentals in busy times, and working with the Executive Director with office tasks, e.g. answering telephone, restocking supplies as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills and should have some knowledge of office tools such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs. A background and/or interest in the film industry will be viewed favourably but is not necessary. This is a learning position, and the successful applicant will work with support from the AMP Lab Manager, the Technical Coordinator and Executive Director.

ELIGIBILITY:

This job is funded through the Job Creation Partnership Program of Employment. To be eligible for the position you must qualify for the program. Details about eligibility are below:

You must be Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA) eligible to access the Job Creation Partnership.

To be LMDA eligible you must meet one of the following:

·    have a current Employment Insurance (EI) claim

·    have had an EI claim that ended within the last 60 months

·    have received benefits under the EI emergency response benefit within the previous 60 months

·    have been employed with gross insurable earnings of $2000 or higher annually, in at least 5 of the last 10 years

You must also have been previously attached to the labour force for a minimum of 24 months and your application will be assessed for Labour Force Attachment (LFA). More info HERE.

SALARY: $17/hr based on a 28hr workweek.
