Kate Lightstone | The Nature of Inspiration
Female skaters have slowly made themselves a space in the skateboarding world, with small collectives and groups of women popping up around the Maritimes. Using a mixed-media approach of 8mm film and digital footage, NoS: The Nature of Inspiration will dive into the world of female and non-binary skateboarders in the Maritimes while exploring their relationship with art, themselves and their place in a heavily male-dominated space. How different could skate culture become if women were given more space, more opportunity, and more access to skating in the ways they want to, living expressively, creatively and holistically as themselves?
